Summary

Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our team as a Catering Assistant. This is a 6 month fixed term, part-time position working 30 hours per week, working 9.00am-3.30pm, at our Loughborough College.

This successful candidate will assist the Catering Manager and the Catering Team in the preparation and delivery of meals and snacks and the hospitality service, observing the highest standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
To ensure that the different dietary needs of all the students and any special needs of the staff are met.
To assist the chef in the preparation and serving of meals
To serve and assist customers as necessary in a pleasant and professional manner.
To assist in the preparation and delivery of the hospitality service.
To set up and replenish the serving counter, storage equipment and staff area.
Ensure the highest possible standard of hygiene are followed in delivering the service including scheduled and responsive cleaning rubbish removal and the recording of temperatures.
Key skills and experience
Basic knowledge/awareness of Health and Safety regulations
Basic knowledge of COSH and cleaning chemicals.
A demonstrable commitment to enabling an inclusive and diverse workforce to reflect our community.
A commitment to people with complex communication and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn how to communicate with people with complex communication and identify the barriers to their participation in all aspects of Sense’s work.
Ability to prepare and meals and hot snacks and respond to customer requests.
Ability to work quickly, following basic instructions and with a minimum of supervision.
To be numerate and able to complete relevant forms
Ability to communicate positively.
Ability to build effective and supportive relationships with colleagues.
Good communication skills including the ability to react positively to customer requests.
