Overall Purpose of the Role:
Chartwells are looking for a medical diet nutritionist to join our award-winning team on a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract. The role can be based anywhere in the south requiring regular travel across a large geographical area. The location of the candidate can be flexible as long as they have easy access to road and rail networks. The ideal candidate should be an expert in nutrition with an interest in food allergies, intolerances, and knowledge of legislation around food and nutrition including the Food Information Regulations and School Food Standards.
Duties Include:
- Writing and checking medical diet menus for different allergies, intolerances, and medical conditions
- Supporting and mentoring key contracts in the South
- Regular communication with parents, schools, catering teams and medical professionals
- Completing medical diet audits across our schools
- Delivering training workshops to catering teams
- Reporting any incidents & working with HSE to investigate
- Being highly visible on the ground to support our colleagues
- Involvement in key projects and delivery of these projects across the business.
- Being a key representative of the medical diets team to operators, clients and schools.
Person Specification
· Must have degree (BSc) in Nutrition or other relevant degree
· Experience in working with people with allergies and intolerances is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
· Experience using nutritional analysis system such as Saffron (or equivalent) desirable but not essential as full training provided
· Excellent IT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
· Excellent communication skills with ability to adapt communication to a range of stakeholders including clients, parents, and pupils
· Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage a busy inbox and a high volume of workload
· Confident in communicating to large groups of people and controlling challenging meetings/conversations
· Ability to work under pressure and met deadlines
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Excellent attention to detail
· Demonstrates can do attitude
· Passion for keeping up to date with latest nutrition research and legislation
· Must be willing to travel and stay away from home occasionally
