What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our Year 3 team on a maternity cover contract. Working closely with the class teachers, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, leading small group interventions, and promoting the wellbeing and spiritual growth of all children.

Key Responsibilities

• Support high-quality teaching and learning under the direction of the class teacher.

• Deliver planned interventions and small-group work, including supporting children with additional needs.

• Lead learning activities with individuals, small groups, and occasionally the whole class.

• Contribute to planning, assessment, and the preparation of classroom resources.

• Promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, in line with the Catholic ethos of the school.

• Support children’s social and emotional wellbeing, modelling positive behaviour and relationships.

• Assist with classroom organisation and administrative tasks as needed.

• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

• Supervise children during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

• Have proven experience of supporting teaching and learning in a primary school setting, ideally Key Stage 2.

• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Be flexible, proactive, and able to use initiative effectively.

• Have high expectations of behaviour and learning, encouraging all children to achieve their potential.

• Support and uphold the Catholic ethos and values of the school (being a practising Catholic is desirable but not essential).
