Crynodeb
Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich has a vacancy for a Ragi required to carry out Sikh religious duties at Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich. Applicant must be Amritdhari and at all times live according to the Sikh principles and code of conduct.
The role entails (but not limited to) leading the Sikh sangat in prayer, performing Kirtan, Ardas and to inspire and provide spiritual direction. Duties will include conducting religious services at weekly diwans, marriages, engagements, funerals, birthdays and other occasions.
Candidates must have previous experience in similar roles with extensive knowledge of Gurbani, Sikh principles, values and history. They must be fluent in Punjabi, written and verbal and able to communicate with members of the sangat from all age groups.
The candidate must be skilled in and able to demonstrate experience and ability in kirtan, classical ragas and a selection of musical instruments – harmonium and tabla are basic requirements. Skills with other musical instruments will be an advantage.
The candidate must have minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy gurdwara environment and be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in all aspects of gurdwara activity and high standard of respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Accommodation and meals will be provided.
