About Ozzie

Ozzie is a funny, thoughtful, and kind young man who enjoys spending time gaming online with friends, chilling out with his dog, and watching TV. He’s also recently developed an interest in collecting crystals and rocks — and loves learning all about them!

Ozzie finds it difficult to leave the house and visit new places, so he spends most of his time at home in his bedroom. When he does go out, he enjoys familiar trips like Costa, McDonald’s, the cinema, or a visit to the zoo. He’s also recently discovered Scotland’s biggest rock shop in Glasgow — which might just become a favourite outing!

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone warm, patient, and kind, who can help Ozzie feel safe and supported while gently encouraging him to build his confidence and independence.

Your role will involve:

• Supporting Ozzie at home to develop independence skills, such as making snacks and drinks, and tidying up after himself.
• Helping Ozzie take small steps into the community — for example, visiting McDonald’s or Costa — and supporting him to practise skills like ordering food and paying.
• Encouraging Ozzie to engage in enjoyable activities and, over time, to explore new interests and social opportunities.
• Understanding when to gently encourage Ozzie to push his comfort zone, and when he’s already doing his best.
The most important thing is that you can see the world from Ozzie’s perspective. While he can appear confident and enthusiastic, he often hides a lot of worries — especially about leaving his safe space at home.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

• Warm, kind, and patient.
• A good listener who can build trust and rapport.
• Confident enough to offer gentle encouragement and reassurance.
• A car driver with access to a vehicle.
• Ideally, have some understanding or experience of autism, intellectual disabilities, or avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) — but most importantly, you have a caring and thoughtful approach.

Hours & Flexibility

Ozzie currently attends school for only a short time each week (around 1.5 hours on Tuesday mornings), so support sessions can be arranged flexibly during weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Shorter visits (2–3 times a week) work best for him.

Why This Role Matters

You’ll be helping Ozzie build confidence, independence, and joy in everyday life — from making a snack to exploring the world beyond his bedroom. Your support will make a real difference, one small step at a time.
