Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)Fulfil the role of IPC Link Practitioner cross site: Oversee the Infection Prevention Control programme across the organisation, ensuring compliance with national standards and hospice policies. To provide specialist input in the identification, prevention, monitoring and control of infection within the Hospice, under guidance from the contracted IPC Consultancy, Infection Prevention Solutions (IPS). Lead and support a network of Infection Prevention and Control Champions, providing guidance and facilitating training, and regular updates, provided by IPS. Monitor infection control practices, conduct audits, and contribute to the development of action plans to address areas for improvement. Act as a point of contact for infection prevention queries and support management when required e.g. source isolation. To monitor staff compliance with infection prevention and control policies initiating appropriate actions to enable all grades and disciplines of staff to prevent and control infection. Act as a specialist adviser, resource and role model to all staff, clinical and non-clinical on issues relating to infection prevention and control. The role includes the coordination of local training and auditing as well as working as an advocate for IPC. Training and Development To complete the IPC Link Practitioner Training and attend annual refresher training as advised by IPS. Undertake Mandatory Training as required by Hospice in the Weald and participate in additional required training and development activities. Take an active role in identifying gaps in knowledge and skills and how to address these. Take responsibility for setting own goals and achieving them. Actively engage in personal and professional development through the Hospice Annual Review process, continuously updating knowledge, skills, and applying learning to practice. Demonstrate competence in the use of information and communication technology (ICT) relevant to the role. Recognise and respond to the evolving need for flexible, 24/7 working patterns to support patient care. Consistently strive for excellence in all aspects of clinical education and practice. Maintain accurate records, including training attendance and participation, in line with organisational requirements. Exercise sound judgement in knowing when to work independently and when to seek advice or escalate concerns. Undertake any other duties reasonably requested to support the delivery of high-quality care and education.
