Summary
Are you fascinated by the amazing science of pain and motivated to help clients make sense of their own persistent pain? Do you enjoy supporting individuals to build upon their skills to successfully self-manage their pain and to achieve their personal goals? Would you like to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills within the field of Pain Management?
You will be supported by and work closely with an interdisciplinary team of dedicated and expert pain specialists including physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacist, occupational therapists, pain consultants, osteopath, therapy assistant and nurses. The pain team integrates with our Rheumatology, MSK and ME/CFS services and you will benefit from shared learning opportunities.
You will be involved in delivering a full range of specialist Pain Management Physiotherapy approaches. The successful applicant will assess and manage a mixed caseload of patients with pain management both on a 1:1 basis and in groups. There will be opportunities for close interdisciplinary working, research and service development.
You will have current experience of working with individuals living with pain. We would also consider applications from Band 5 clinicians with sound MSK assessment and reasoning skills who would want to develop in the area of pain management, as part of a development role.

Provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy input to the designated therapy team.
To assess and treat patients within a ward or community setting as an autonomous practitioner
Physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
Hold responsibility for own complex caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision.
The postholder will ensure their own personal development and participate in the development of others
To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the degree standard
Undertake evidence-based audit and contribute to research projects. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager for service improvement
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
