We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Student Mentor to support and guide students who are struggling to engage in full time education. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment, helping students to develop their skills, and encouraging their personal growth. This position is perfect for individuals who are enthusiastic about improving access to education and have a desire to make a difference in the lives of students.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one mentoring to students, assisting them with academic challenges and personal development.
Educate students on wellbeing, life skills, confidence and resilience using the RSHE curriculum and individualised targeted interventions
Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
Build strong relationships with schools, students, families and other professionals, creating a supportive and trusting environment.
Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to identify student needs and tailor mentoring approaches accordingly.
Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions and student progress.
Skills

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students.
A passion for education and a commitment to helping others succeed.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, work independently and prioritise tasks.
Empathy and patience, allowing for understanding of diverse student backgrounds and challenges.
Ability to motivate and inspire students to reach their full potential.
Previous experience in an educational setting or mentoring role is essential.
A recognised safeguarding qualification at least to level 2, ideally level 3 and willing to take part in further training offered

Hours are flexible and offered as new referrals come in to the service. Employment is offered on a self-employed basis. Candidates will need to be ready to start work when new referrals come in. Hours may change or increase/decrease to fit with the need of the service. This post would therefore suit someone who is looking for bank work or similar.

Pay to increase to £20 ph after 6 months successful probationary period and £25 ph after one year's service
