Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team. The role of the Management Accountant is to support the team of Finance Business Partners on the delivery and development of business support services to the University.
About the role
As a Management Accountant, you will provide financial support, help to drive financial performance in a specific area of the University. In addition, you will be required to provide the financial position and performance of the organisation through relevant, accurate and timely reporting, analysis, decision support and efficient operational and transactional processes.
You will work collaboratively across the organisation, sharing information and using good industry practice to deliver on goals and objectives. Working with budget holders you will ensure that decisions taken will deliver on our financial and operational objectives.
To meet this exciting challenge, you’ll need proven experience of being part of a team, have adaptable and versatile skills with the ability to learn on the job. The ability to build relationships is paramount.
The University is looking for a Management Accountant with excellent analytical skills and advance Excel knowledge alongside a proven ability to communicate financial concepts in a clear, accessible manner to non-financial managers and who can quickly grasp the University’s financial operations.
You will provide budgeting, planning, forecasting, analysis and diagnostic expertise, linking financial and activity data.
In addition to a professional accountancy qualification, you will have advanced Excel skills and excellent communication skills.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours a week on a fixed-term basis for 12 months due to business demand. The position is based at Main Campus in Plymouth and is close to the train station.
For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.
Flexible working options will be considered.
