Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team!

About the role:

The role of the Management Accountant is to support the team of Finance Business Partners on the delivery and development of business support services to the University. Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide financial support and help drive financial performance within a specific area of the University.
• Provide the financial position and performance of the organisation through relevant, accurate, and timely reporting, analysis, decision support and efficient operational and transactional processes
• Provide budgeting, planning, forecasting, analysis, and diagnostic expertise, linking financial and activity data.
• Collaborate across the organisation, sharing information and applying good industry practices to achieve goals and objectives.
• Work closely with budget holders to ensure decisions align with financial and operational objectives.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months due to business demand. The position is based at Main Campus in Plymouth and is close to the train station.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

What we’re looking for:

To meet this exciting challenge, we’re looking for someone who can quickly grasp the Universities financial operations aswell as the following:
• Professional accountancy qualification e.g. CCAB qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Proven experience working in a finance environment and as part of a team and independently
• Drawing on professional/specialist knowledge to solve presenting problems
• Adaptable and versatile skill set with ability to learn on the job
• Ability to undertake financial planning, forecasting and appraisal
• Ability to prioritise and self manage workloads
• Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint

The Finance Department is responsible for providing a range of professional services to the University, including financial management, corporate governance, financial accounting and procurement.
