Location: Chepstow School (based at Raglan Depot, Raglan, Monmouthshire, NP15 2ER)
Employment Type: Temporary initially for 12 Weeks
Hours: 20 per week (Mon–Fri, 3pm–7pm, term time only)
Start Date: 24 November 2025
About the Role
Monmouthshire County Council is looking for two Cleaning & Hygiene Operatives to join our Facilities & Environment team. This temporary role has arisen due to recruitment challenges and is essential in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at Chepstow School.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team ensuring safe, clean, and welcoming facilities for staff, pupils, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out cleaning tasks including washing floors and walls, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying bins.
Clean sanitary areas to required standards.
Safely operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and polishing/scrubbing machines.
Ensure adequate stock of cleaning materials is maintained.
Report faults with equipment promptly to supervisors.
Use chemicals safely and in line with procedures.
Work as part of Monmouthshire’s Facilities Unit, supporting other sites if required.
Follow Health & Safety regulations and safeguarding policies at all times.
About You
We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous cleaning or hygiene experience.
Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Commitment to safe working practices and equal opportunities.
Willingness to undertake training as required.
Welsh language skills are desirable (training can be provided).
DBS Requirement: Enhanced Disclosure with Children’s Barred List check.
