Background of department/role
The UK Partnerships and Apprenticeships Unit (UKPAU) is located within the Directorate of the Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Enterprise, and Business Development. The department provides leadership, support and advice for UK partnerships and apprenticeships provision. Furthermore, it oversees the process of UK partnerships (and apprenticeships) onboarding, development and delivery and supports the development and delivery of the university’s Partnerships Strategy through its oversight of the Framework for Partnership Development. We have been delivering apprenticeship courses at levels 5 to 7 (in Health and Business) since 2018 and now have over 650 learners studying on 9 different apprenticeship standards.
Opening line
Due to the growth in both the number of apprentices and apprenticeship courses, we are now seeking to appoint a part-time Apprenticeship Officer (O.5FTE) to join our existing team of 3 Apprenticeships Officers. Reporting to the Apprenticeships Manager, the primary role of the postholder would be to provide effective and efficient high quality administrative and operations support for the apprenticeships team and more widely to the academic colleagues in delivering an outstanding learner experience throughout the apprenticeship journey. This is an excellent opportunity to take on an active and engaging role, where you will be contributing to one of the University’s most dynamic and exciting aspects of its work.
To be successful in this role you will thrive in an environment where you are establishing and maintaining productive professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholder groups and will have well-developed organisational and time management skills. You will be at ease when required to schedule and prioritise multiple projects and tasks with varying deadlines. If you have a creative and innovative approach to problem solving and are committed to good customer service and contributing towards a good apprentice experience, this could be the job for you.
You will have GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent standard) in English and Mathematics with experience of working large and complex data sets. You must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and have knowledge of the HE sector.
Experience of working within a University Faculty/School/Department context and of working with large and complex data sets would also be advantageous.
How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and the nature of this role will mensa that campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken. Typically, this would mean, 1 or 2 days on site, and 1 or 2 days working from home.
How to apply
Start date for applications: 12th of November 2025
Closing date for applications: 26th of November 2025
Interviews are to be held: W/c 8th of December 2025
