Employment Type: Temporary (13 Weeks)
Hours: 37 per week (Mon–Thurs 7am–3pm, Fri 7am–2:30pm)

About the Role
Newport City Council is seeking two Refuse Loaders to join the Waste & Cleansing Collections team within the Environment and Sustainability service. This temporary assignment provides essential sickness cover and ensures the smooth running of refuse collection services across the city.
As a Refuse Loader, you’ll play a vital role in keeping Newport clean and safe, working as part of a team to complete daily waste collections and support wider city services when required.
Key Responsibilities
Complete allocated refuse collections (bins, sacks, and other receptacles) in line with daily schedules.
Carry out specific waste services such as assisted collections, tagging bins, delivering, removing, washing, and repairing bins.
Record and report collection issues (e.g., bins not presented, contamination, overfull bins).
Ensure all tasks are completed professionally, safely, and to required standards.
Support other City Services when needed, working collaboratively with supervisors and team leaders.
Attend training courses as instructed, adapting working hours if required.
Follow Health & Safety regulations, using appropriate PPE and reporting accidents or near misses promptly.
Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Commitment to safe working practices.
Reliability and flexibility to meet service needs.
