A respected transport and infrastructure consultancy with a growing reputation for delivering practical, creative, and sustainable design solutions is seeking a Traffic Engineer with 2–6 years’ experience to join their expanding team in Sheffield.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in developing traffic and transport solutions for a diverse range of projects, from new residential and commercial developments to regeneration and infrastructure schemes. The position offers hands-on technical design work alongside client engagement and the opportunity to progress quickly within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare transport assessments, travel plans, and junction capacity modelling.
- Undertake and analyse traffic surveys, feasibility studies, and access design.
- Use software such as AutoCAD, Junctions 10 (PICADY/ARCADY), LinSig, and TRICS.
- Support the design of traffic management measures, road layouts, and active travel schemes.
- Liaise with local authorities and clients to support planning submissions and approvals.
- Contribute to the delivery of innovative and sustainable transport solutions.

Requirements

- 2–6 years’ experience in transport planning or traffic engineering.
- Experience producing technical reports and supporting planning applications.
- Knowledge of relevant design standards (DMRB, MfS, TSRGD, etc.).
- Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Junctions 10, LinSig, or TRICS advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or related field.
