Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision - Barnet
Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start
Up to £110 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures are working with a nurturing and specialist primary provision in Barnet to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a highly rewarding, long-term role that would suit a recent graduate with an interest in SEND, psychology, education or behaviour support. The child requires consistency, patience, and emotional regulation strategies - alongside someone who can engage them in learning through their interests in gaming and technology.
You will work closely with the SENCo, class teacher, and external professionals to help the child build routines, develop communication, and enjoy a safe, structured school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support for a child with ASD in a Reception classroom
- Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour support and positive reinforcement
- Use creative strategies and tech-based tools to engage the pupil in learning
- Support with transitions, sensory breaks and calming activities
- Collaborate with the SEN team to implement EHCP targets and strategies
- Communicate progress and concerns with staff and parents
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or related field (desirable)
- Experience supporting children with ASD or SEMH in school or care settings
- A calm, proactive and compassionate approach to challenging behaviour
- Confidence using visual timetables, reward systems and sensory tools
- Passion for helping children grow in confidence and independence

- Easily accessible via High Barnet, Finchley Central and Totteridge & Whetstone
- Bus routes include: 34, 107, 263, 307
- On-site parking and secure bike storage available
