Our client, a respected educational institution in Teignmouth, Devon, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have the necessary tools and guidance to thrive academically and socially.
As an integral member of our client's SEN department, the Teaching Assistant will work closely with the SEN Coordinator (SENCo) and other teaching staff to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and will be well-versed in strategies to support these students effectively.
Key responsibilities of the Part-time SEN Teaching Assistant include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, focusing on their specific learning needs and goals
- Collaborating with the SENCo and teaching staff to create and deliver differentiated lessons and activities that cater to individual learning styles and abilities
- Monitoring and assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing regular feedback to the SENCo, teachers, and parents
- Assisting with the development and implementation of behaviour management strategies to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting students in developing their social skills, self-esteem, and independence, both within the classroom and during extracurricular activities
- Attending and contributing to IEP meetings, annual reviews, and other relevant discussions regarding student progress and well-being
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent experience working with children with SEN
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents

- Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic educational environment
