We are looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to work in an alternative provision supporting pupils of primary age, with a range of complex needs. This full-time, long-term role is perfect for a Special needs Teaching Assistant who thrives in a dynamic and nurturing environment and is eager to help students overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Training in how to safely restrain pupils (when needed) if they are becoming emotionally deregulated is essential, it can be team teach or other alternative, relevant training.
Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with various SEND needs, including SEMH, ASD, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges.
- Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement tailored learning and behaviour management strategies.
- Support pupils in staying engaged with classroom activities and promote their social and emotional development.
- Help create a structured and supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of the students.
- Provide additional support during unstructured times, such as break and lunch periods, to encourage positive interactions.
Requirements for the Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with SEND pupils, is highly desirable.
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to working with young people.
- Strong communication skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion and helping students develop confidence and independence.
