Summary
Are you seeking to advance your project management career and make a tangible difference in the energy sector? Picture yourself as an integral part of UK Power Networks, contributing to major investment programmes and connections projects from our Crawley office. With a competitive salary of £65,241 plus a 3% bonus and an outstanding benefits package, this permanent role offers the security, progression, and work-life balance you deserve.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will play an essential role in supporting Project Managers and Programme Managers throughout the delivery of our Capital Investment Programme and customer-funded connections projects. Your responsibilities will span assisting with large, high-profile projects by overseeing contracts and managing key stakeholder relationships, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will be instrumental in gaining project approvals, managing expenditure within sanctioned limits, and supporting all aspects of project governance, including the preparation of critical reports and documentation. Your daily activities will include organising mission-focused team meetings, compiling weekly safety reports, contributing to monthly client reviews, and becoming a "superuser" of our Project Controls Systems. You will also support the identification and management of project risks and opportunities, help mitigate scope changes, and facilitate the sharing and implementation of project lessons learnt.
Your role will see you interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, from Portfolio Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and the Design Team to local authorities, supply chain contractors, and landowners. You will ensure all project communications are accurate and timely, and that every aspect of the project meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
To succeed, you'll ideally bring practical experience of LV/HV or EHV electrical distribution networks, along with a qualification in engineering or project management to HNC level (ONC or equivalent required). Membership of a professional institute such as IEE, ICE, or APM is desirable, as is safety management certification (CSCS/IOSH), although not essential as full training will be provided. Most importantly, you'll have demonstrable experience in a project delivery or construction environment and a drive to learn and progress within a supportive, innovative organisation.
If you're ready to take the next step in your project management career and want to work in an environment that nurtures growth, and genuinely values your contribution, then we'd love to hear from you. Apply by 26/11/2025 and unlock your potential with UK Power Networks.
