Summary
Paediatric services at North Manchester are recognised as a provider of choice by the local population and the Trust is keen to recruit keen enthusiastic staff to provide the best care for its local population. There is full support of allied services including 24-hour diagnostics, including laboratory services, on site EEG and radiology, with facilities for MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and Fluoroscopy. The North Manchester site has 21 inpatient beds a mixture of cubicles and bays, including 1 HDU stabilization bed, 6-day surgical beds, and a 6 bedded Paediatric Observation and Assessment Unit (KOALA). The Emergency Department in North Manchester is a fully operational Level 1 Emergency Department and has a dedicated PED with PED consultants and ANNPs. One colleague works in both PED and with us in paediatrics. All major trauma goes directly to PED at Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital (Oxford Road) as it is an accredited Major Trauma Centre for Children working as part of a network to cover the whole of the Northwest. The neonatal unit is a Local Neonatal Unit with 19 cots of which 2 are designated Intensive care, 2 HDU and 15 Special Care. We have 2 LTFT paediatric radiologists based with us providing cover Monday Friday and also access to support form the team at RMCH when needed. There are regular USS lists including the neonatal unit, nuclear medicine on site and a sedated MR scan list. There are regular radiology meetings each week. In the paediatric outpatient department, clinics are held by the paediatricians and surgeons along with several visiting specialists to provide a full range of clinics including cardiology, epilepsy, diabetes, allergy, infectious diseases, orthopaedics ,ENT, dentistry and audiology. There is a nurse led phlebotomy service enabling same day investigation. ECG and allergy testing also take place We also provide outpatient services for CYP in Bury and provide a local outpatient care based in the paediatric outpatient department of hospital. Travel time is included within your PA if you are assigned a clinic at this location.
