Job title: Learning Mentor Salary: CSET9, £28,598 FTE, £21,606 prorated Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only + INSET) Contract Type: Fixed term until 31/08/2026 Location: Lyde Green Primary School About the role We are seeking a committed Learning Mentor to join our busy and supportive school team. Working under the direction of the SENDCo, you will play a vital role in planning and delivering targeted interventions for pupils who require additional support. Your focus will be on behaviour improvement, helping students overcome barriers to learning, and promoting their emotional, physical, and educational development. Key responsibilities include: Supporting pupils with SEND, Pupil Premium, and vulnerable learners. Promoting well-being, self-esteem, and positive behaviour. Contributing to the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle. Leading small group and 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and behaviour. Assisting teachers with planning, preparation, and classroom organisation. Supervising pupils during breaks, clubs, and trips. Building strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and third parties. About you You’re someone who brings warmth, initiative, and a deep commitment to inclusive education. You understand that every student is unique, and you’re ready to support them in reaching their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally. You will have: A good general standard of education (GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English). NVQ/VRQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent. Ideally, additional NVQ qualifications or training in SEND interventions, or a willingness to work towards these. Knowledge of provision mapping processes and tools (desirable). Evidence of recent training and up-to-date knowledge in SEND practice. Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with parents, agencies, and pupils. Compassion, patience, and confidence in supporting primary-aged children individually and in groups. Reliability, motivation, and resilience under pressure. Proficiency in ICT, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office. You will be a positive role model, personable and approachable, with the ability to build strong relationships across the trust. Above all, you will uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and welfare for pupils in line with school policies and procedures.
