This is a Consultant Haematologist posts in the Clinical Haematology Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary to join a well-established and cohesive team at Manchester Foundation Trust. The department of Clinical Haematology is part of the Clinical Division of Renal, Haematology and Transplantation at the MRI . The post-holder will also provide on-call provision for the General Haematology on-call for the trust
This is a 10 PA job plan. Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust.
Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration -MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for candidates who are offered permanent vacancies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
The appointee will be expected to work closely within an integrated, multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses. The appointee will the management of haematology patients within both the inpatient and outpatient setting at North Manchester General Hospital, these are likely to include:
• Three General/Haem Oncology clinics weekly.
• Medical cover for Haematology patients on the Planned Investigation Units
• Medical cover for Haematology in-patients
• The appointee will undertake laboratory duties in line with their clinical interests.
• The appointee will be expected to undertake both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, both inside and outside the Trust.
• The appointee will participate in administrative and management roles of the department in conjunction with other consultants
• The consultant will be expected to provide consultant cross-cover for annual/study leave and short-term sickness for other consultants in the department on a rotational basis.
• The appointee will participate in the out-of-hours General Haematology on-call service one in six providing care for haematology patients as well as an advisory service for clinical and laboratory problems arising in adult patients within the trust
