Summary
Ideal opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant looking for some additional work!
Location: Client’s home and local community in Weston Super Mare
Position Type: Part-time
Working Hours:
Week 1:
Monday from 5 PM to 8 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM.
Week 2:
Monday and Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM.
During half-term, approximately 18 hours spread over three days.
About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker/SEN TA to provide buddy support for a bright and spirited 12-year-old boy with a hypoxic brain injury living in Weston-Super-Mare. He is non-verbal but communicates confidently using Makaton and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
He loves engaging in a variety of fun activities such as:
Arcades & soft play
Bowling & cinema trips (he loves dancing in the aisles!)
Horse riding
Banger racing with his dad
Outdoor adventures in local parks
You’ll be working closely with a warm, loving family who are passionate about providing the best opportunities for their son.
What We’re Looking For:
An NVQ in Care
Experience working with children who have a brain injury and Special Educational Needs (SEN)
A personality that is energetic, outgoing, confident, and playful.
Knowledge of Makaton would be useful but training can be provided
Experience with Epilepsy is strongly recommended
Flexibility in working hours, particularly during half-term periods.
Confident around animals (the family has dogs, horses, and rabbits)
A nurturing and flexible approach to care
A valid driver's license.
This role is ideal for those working or seeking experience in SEN school environments.
Requirements:
Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
Full UK driving licence is essential and access to own car
Commitment to promoting a fun, safe, and inclusive environment
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the family and therapists
