Summary

To investigate allegations of fraud and take necessary actions in order to safeguard resources and protect the public purse in accordance with Council policy and procedures.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Corporate Fraud Investigator to join our Council’s Corporate Fraud Team. This is a critical role within our Internal Audit service, helping to protect public funds and uphold the integrity of council operations.

You will lead and support investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, and financial irregularities across council departments, contractors, and service users. Your work will contribute directly to safeguarding public resources and maintaining trust in local government.

We are looking for someone with a proven experience in fraud investigation, ideally within a public sector or regulatory environment. A Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and investigative procedures with excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills. You must be have the ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously with professional integrity, discretion, and a commitment to public service.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Fraud & Investigations Manager. Hybrid and flexible working, including working from home and other bases across Cheshire is a key feature of this role.
