About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled General Building Operator to join our client based at HMP Leeds. This is a hands-on role that involves maintaining the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of our buildings and grounds. You'll play a key part in ensuring our premises are well-maintained and operational for staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general building maintenance and repairs (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, painting)
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
- Support contractors and external service providers on site
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist with setting up rooms and spaces for meetings or events
- Monitor and report any building issues or hazards
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role or trade
- Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks
- Willingness to work flexible hours if required
