Ss part of the Trust's commitment to delivering high quality clinical placements to medical students we are looking to appoint a clinical teaching fellow. The post includes:
· Participating in teaching undergraduate medical students
· taking a lead role in co-ordinating the Psychiatry teaching in P-year
· undertaking clinical duties at ST4- ST6 level
· joining the group of St George’s Teaching Fellows, and being a member of a University department.
Base: Springfield University Hospital, City St George’s University of London, and other Trust sites as required.
The post is suitable for anyone wishing to specialise in any branch of psychiatry, although the predominant teaching focus will be on adult mental health.
The working hours are 24 – 40 hours/week, negotiable. Most CTFs choose this as a full-time role, combining some clinical sessions with the University responsibilities.
The appointment is for 12 months, August to August.
Applicants should hold full MRCPsych, or equivalent, or be about to sit the CASC examination (within the next 6 months). The post isnotaccredited for specialist training, and in most cases the post is undertaken as an OOP (Out of Programme) activity. Depending on TPD/NHSE approval, it is possible to combine the post with part-time work in an ST4-6 Psychiatry rotation.
South West London and St Georges Mental Health Trust is the lead NHS provider of the full range of mental health services in South West London. The Trust serves a local population of over 1 million people across the Boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.
The Trust provides comprehensive mental health services for the local population including those with learning disabilities, children and adolescents, adults of working age and older people. In addition, we provide regional and national services, such as Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders, Forensics and Deaf services.
The Trust has 150 clinical teams working from service locations at 40 sites across the 5 boroughs. We have inpatient beds on two sites at Springfield Hospital and Tolworth Hospital, which are in the process of being rebuilt with the most modern patient facilities, but 80% of the work is provided within the Community. There is a liaison service provided for St Georges, St Helier and Kingston Hospitals.
