Qualified Social Worker – Family Assessment and Support Team (Launceston, East Cornwall)
Location: Launceston, East Cornwall
Hours: 8:45am – 5:15pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: 12 weeks (initially, with potential for extension)
Start date: 24th November
Pay rate: £27.62 per hour (PAYE), paid weekly every Friday
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join a Family Assessment and Support (FAS) Team based in Launceston, East Cornwall.
About the Role:
You will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and families through effective assessment, planning, and intervention. The FAS team works closely with the Multi Agency Referral Unit (MARU) and receives cases directly from this service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Undertake statutory social work with children and families under Sections 17, 20, and 47 of the Children Act 1989
• Complete high-quality social work assessments, care planning, and report writing
• Manage a caseload of children and families, ensuring effective safeguarding and support
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals to achieve positive outcomes
• Engage in regular reflective supervision and ongoing professional development
About You:
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Proven experience in statutory children and families social work
• Strong communication, assessment, and organisational skills
• A positive, resilient, and professional approach to challenging situations
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential
