Summary
To deputise for the Lead BMS during periods of absence and contribute to the overall management of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion departments. To supervise and support daily operations within the Routine Haematology Department, ensuring smooth workflow and high performance. To oversee training and education, including technical instruction and supervision of project work for basic and post-basic qualification trainees. To maintain and monitor laboratory equipment, including calibration, quality control, and the introduction of new technologies and systems. To authorise and review test results, initiate further investigations where necessary, and escalate clinically significant findings to medical staff. To support staff development and quality management, including conducting appraisals, assisting with PDPs, and contributing to the Blood Sciences Quality Management System.
