Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist primary SEND school in Northwich that supports young people with a variety of complex and profound SEND such as ASD, PMLD, non-verbal and SEMH. This is an extremely supportive and inclusive school that is looking for at least 2 teaching assistants to join their team on a long-term full-time temporary basis, with start dates ranging from immediate to January. This contract is based across the EYFS and KS1 classes with a focus on speech and language development.

Your new role
Within your new role as a teaching assistant, you will be joining an extremely supportive and welcoming team of like-minded professionals. You will be joining a highly experienced EYFS and KS1 team, working in collaboration with teachers and teaching assistants to promote the engagement and learning of pupils with profound SEND by tailoring your approach to best suit individual attainment, physical and ECHP requirements. The main focus of this contract is to build the speech and language of pupils across the EYFS and KS1 cohort by planning and delivering comprehensive speech and language sessions, using associative resources/strategies such as Makaton, PECs, association cards etc and working in partnership with external professionals such as speech and language therapist's. Other duties will include:

  • Implementing and utilising positive behaviour strategies including sensory therapy, pressure therapy, traffic light systems, etc
  • Direct liaison with the SENCO and parents/guardians on pupil progress and further requirements
  • Personal/intimate care


What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, relevant referenceable experience, and:

  • Experience supporting children and young people with profound needs within a classroom or residential environment
  • Experience planning and delivering speech and language support
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)
