Are you someone who believes that small acts of care can make a big difference? We’re looking for a warm, patient, and understanding Personal Assistant to support an individual who has just begun their journey with care support. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in someone’s life—offering not just practical help, but genuine companionship and encouragement.

The person you’ll be supporting has autism, ADHD, and mental health challenges, along with some physical health issues. They’ve recently been approved for 10 hours of care per week and are looking for someone who can help them navigate daily life with compassion and respect. They value kindness, honesty, and understanding—someone who can bring calmness, structure, and positivity into their week.

Your days together may include helping with paperwork and official documents, attending appointments (including medical visits), and encouraging social activities and community engagement. You’ll also be a friendly, reassuring presence when their sister, who works full-time, is unavailable. Beyond tasks, this role is about helping someone build confidence, independence, and a more connected life.

We’re seeking someone with experience supporting neurodivergent individuals or those with mental health needs. You’ll need to be empathetic, flexible, and a great communicator—someone who can listen without judgment and adapt to what each day brings. A driving licence or ability to travel locally would be an advantage.

If you’re passionate about supporting others to live more independently and feel more connected to the world around them, we’d love to hear from you.

Duties include:
- Other relevant duties as required
- Housekeeping
- Companionship

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
