Location / Department: Kidderminster Treatment Centre/Minor Injury Unit Accountable to: Ward Manager Reports to: Ward Manager/ Nurse in Charge Key Working Relationships: Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare support workers and receptionist. Risk Assessment: Manual Handling of patients. Assist in any house keeping duties. Computer skills Basic life support. Job Purpose: The post holder will: Behave consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation, promoting these on a day to day basis. Use their initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and the service they provide to patients. Provide safe and effective practice to patients. Ensure that all patient contact is practised within the philosophy of patient centred care. To deliver care under the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England. Key Duties: Delivery of Individualised Nursing Care (under direction of senior staff) Undertake clinical procedures following assessment of competencies under direct supervision of Emergency Nurse Practitioners. Carry out delegated nursing care including observations of patients/clients Adhere to all trust policies and procedures Report and communicate effectively with other staff members, patients and relatives. Ensure confidentiality, dignity, privacy and respect for patients at all times Assist and participate in activities to meet occupational needs of patients. Administrative: Provide reception and clerical support with in the Minor Injury Unit General Duties: The Healthcare support workers role in The Minor Injury Unit is a combination of Reception / clerical responsibilities and delivering safe effective nursing care for all patients with in their competency range. Display a courteous attitude to patients, relatives, visitirs and other staff at all times. Liaise effectively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team as appropriate. Ensure that the Nurse in Charge or Ward manager is aware of any changes in the ward physical environment. Ensure that all communication is effective, clear and precise.
