We are pleased to inform you of a vacancy for the position of Band 2 – Supply Chain Distribution Officer. The role involves the delivery of goods to wards and departments, aiming to complete deliveries on the day of receipt whenever possible. The post holder will be responsible for unpacking trolleys and pallets in a safe manner and appropriate location.
This role may require physical effort at times, and the successful candidate will need to adhere to safe manual handling procedures to ensure that deliveries are transported securely and efficiently to their designated destinations. Occasionally, travel to other Trust sites may be necessary to provide coverage.

Deliver goods to wards and departments, wherever possible on day of receipt, carry out the unpacking of trolleys/pallets in a safe manner in a suitable location.
Marshal goods into goods receiving area, safely unloading pallets/roll cages/tote boxes, etc, from vehicles, checking and signing driver’s documentation when service requires and in the absence of the Goods Receiving Officer (GRO).
Ensure signature is obtained at all times from recipient (often referred to as the End-User) upon delivery of non-stock or as and when required by GRO.
Respond to enquiries in an efficient manner – act as a liaison between ward/department and other staff in the Supply Chain function where required.
Responsibility for maintaining high service levels to all customers for the receipt and distribution of goods at all times.
To be aware of and follow Trust moving and handling policies and procedures and to work in a safe manner using all equipment responsibly with due care and attention for themselves and others. Understand the needs of and comply with the Health and Safety and Work Acts.
To collect and return to the Goods Receiving area, any empty roll cages/tote boxes from wards/departments that are required to be returned to NHS Supply Chain Distribution Centre.
Assist materials management team with ward replenishment when required.
