Key Responsibilities
Duties
To provide direct support to teaching staff by maintaining and promoting lively working environment and practices.
To work with and ensure that staff and students have access to studios, workshops, equipment as required.
To prepare and assist in activities ensuring all materials and equipment are prepared in readiness for practical sessions and retrieved after the activity has ceased.
Maintain and repair specialist equipment and be responsible for the security of equipment and tools.
To assist with the supervision of students working on project work.
Be flexible in supporting the sections requirements and cross college tasks
Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
Be responsible for ordering requisitions and storekeeping
Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria
You’ll bring good practical knowledge of vehicle tools, equipment, and workshop safety procedures, along with the ability to manage and maintain workshop tools effectively. Strong organisation and attention to detail are key, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. You’ll be reliable, punctual, and a team player with a positive, professional attitude and great communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in motor vehicles and hands-on experience in a workshop or garage environment. A relevant qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance (Level 2 or 3) would be ideal, though practical experience and enthusiasm are just as important. A full UK driving licence and a willingness to continue developing your skills are desirable.

You’ll have experience working in a motor vehicle workshop or garage environment, supporting technicians or mechanics — or be a confident hobbyist with solid mechanical know-how. You’ll be comfortable maintaining tools and equipment, keeping the workspace tidy, and following safety procedures. Experience supporting learners or apprentices, managing stock, or using digital systems for tool tracking or maintenance logs would be an advantage
