We are delighted to invite applications for a Specialty Doctor in Cardiology. This post was created to provide training to consultant level for a suitable applicant and to support the cardiology services at Norfolk & Norwich University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join the cardiology department in providing inpatient and outpatient care for cardiology.
The appointee will have appropriate experience in general cardiology. This post is ideally suited to a doctor pursuing Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration route to becoming a consultant cardiologist in NHS. We can support a variety of subspecialty interests. The appointee will be responsible to the Cardiology service director who will review the post holder’s progress and career development. A postgraduate qualification (MRCP or equivalent) is essential.
This post is full time at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The post holder will be expected to work with professional colleagues and managers to efficiently run the service. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their experience in general cardiology and chosen subspecialty. The post holder will provide professional supervision and training for junior medical staff and take an active role in audit, research, teaching and governance. The post will include outpatient clinics, specialty sessions, supervising junior doctors in managing in-patients, audit and teaching. MDTs take place with Papworth for surgery and specialised structural interventional treatments such as TAVI, Mitraclip and TEER; Barts and Guys and St Thomas Hospitals for GUCH, and for Maternal Medicine. Multidisciplinary meetings and audit meetings take place for cardiac pacing, EP and PCI.
