Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Renal Services at Dorset County Hospital, providing expert clinical leadership and strategic direction for renal healthcare within our acute hospital and satelite dialysis untis in East Dorset and South Somerset.
In this pivotal role, you will have the autonomy to lead service development across both in-patient and community settings, influence strategic decisions, and deliver exceptional care to patients and families - making a lasting impact every day. You'll work alongside leading Consultants in Renal Medicine, with access to advanced learning and development opportunities.
As Nursing Lead, you will collaborate with senior clinicians, the interdisciplinary team, operational management, and external partners to transform and improve patient outcomes and experiences. You will provide expert clinical leadership, act on concerns, and ensure effective communication.
Areas of practice include the Renal Department, Dialysis, Satellite Dialysis Services, Prince of Wales ward and relevant outpatient departments. This is a regional service covering Dorset and south Somerset.
The lead nurse will be responsible for leading the development of nurses and nursing practice within the speciality of Renal Care and Transplantation.This role will provide leadership and direct line management to the renal specialist nursing team and the dialysis units and provide specialist renal support to the Prince of Wales ward whilst working closely with colleagues across the service.
This role requires a highly experienced practitioner who has demonstrable experience of working across renal specialties and will lead and support renal services for Dorset with the aim of enabling patients with renal disease to remain as well as possible for as long as possible.
The lead nurse will provide inspirational leadership to nurses and other staff managing renal and transplant patients, acting as an exemplary role model for all issues relating to patients with kidney disease.
With members of the multi-disciplinary renal team, lead the development of a five-year strategy with a view to redesigning and improving the service whilst contributing to clinical governance strategies that relate to renal services at Dorset County Hospital.
