We work with some of the UK’s most interesting brands and we’re looking for a Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant to come and join us. Armbands optional.
The Part You’ll Play as a Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant…
You’ll assist with general maintenance tasks and minor repairs on both a reactive and planned preventative basis, across our extensive grounds and office buildings.
Key responsibilities include assisting with basic building and grounds maintenance, including lawn care, pruning, planting, and garden waste removal. This role requires physical stamina, operating tools and machinery, adherence to health and safety, and effective communication.
Please note, to ensure adequate cover and support, the hours of work for this role are 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, with some potential out of hours work. There may be some requirements to work different shift patterns while occasionally covering for the wider team.
Grounds Maintenance duties: Under the direction of the Senior Gardener, undertake general garden maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, and irrigation system maintenance. Provide cover for other garden staff as needed.
Building Maintenance duties: Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, undertake general building maintenance including minor electrical, joinery, and HVAC work. Responsibilities also cover property upkeep (roofs, gutters), swimming pool maintenance (COSHH compliance), pest reporting, office moves, health and safety support, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Be available for out-of-hours work and cover for supervisor. Facilitate best practice, manage kitchen sundries, and ensure recycling collection.
As a Maintenance Assistant You’ll Bring…
Must have:
Physical ability to carry out manual tasks and demanding labour as detailed above, such as manual handling requirements, often outdoors in various weather conditions Ability to operate machinery and tools, and perform basic repairs on buildings and grounds Competent in the use of IT A strong understanding of, and adherence to, health and safety regulations, including safe use of chemicals and equipment Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, with clear and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues and contractors Friendly and proactive, with a customer service oriented focus Attention to detail in tasks such as planting, maintenance, and inspections to ensure high standards are met Ability to identify and resolve issues relating to grounds and facilities maintenance. Full driving licence as there may be some travel between sites
Nice to have:
Previous experience of working in a facilities environment is highly desirable Training and qualifications in Pool Plant Maintenance, Health and Safety (IOSH), First Aid at Work, and Fire Marshal are all requirements of this role – training will be provided by the company if they are not already held
