I’m recruiting a Project Manager (Technical) to lead end-to-end delivery of bespoke engineering projects. This suits someone from a design engineering background who enjoys rolling up their sleeves—owning plans, costs and risks—while still contributing technical input when needed. You’ll coordinate with internal engineering, manufacturing and test teams, manage customer communication, and keep documentation, budgets and schedules tight throughout the full project lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing
- Own projects cradle-to-grave: scope, plan, schedule and control resources, costs and risks.
- Provide technical input: support quotations, design reviews and manufacturability checks.
- Customer leadership: set expectations, run reviews, handle change and keep stakeholders aligned.
- Governance & process: maintain project files, controlled drawings, and central plans; track hours/costs; raise amendments when needed.
- Team cadence: run regular project reviews, coordinate with account management and internal departments, and drive issue resolution fast.
- Continuous improvement: anticipate problems, manage change, and support CI across delivery.
What you’ll need
- 5+ years in a technical engineering/design role, with exposure to low-/mid-volume special-purpose or test/automation equipment.
- Proven project management experience (planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk/change).
- Strong communicator with solid customer-facing skills and stakeholder management.
- Comfortable in SME environments: adaptable, hands-on, able to switch between PM and technical tasks.
- Good grasp of process and documentation control.
- Engineering qualification (design/mech/elec or similar). PM certification (e.g., APM/Prince2) desirable.
- Able to meet BPSS requirements.
Why this role?
- Varied, technical projects where you can stay close to the engineering.
- Autonomy to actually drive outcomes—not just report on them.
- Supportive team, real customer impact, and scope to progress.
