R&M is a service area within Coventry City Council which provides repair and maintenance services to Coventry City’s operational, commercial and school portfolio. We have a dedicated team with over 30 years’ experience of completing emergency and responsive repairs, planned preventative maintenance schedules and property improvements and refurbishments.
The R&M team is multi-disciplined providing building works, refurbishments, general maintenance, gas servicing, maintenance and installations, electrical works and a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year emergency call out service across all trades.
The service area aims to:
- Ensure that the all statutory compliance with industry standards, British standards and relevant Approved Codes of Practice are achieved.
- Repairs are carried out swiftly and to a high standard
- Projects are delivered on time and on budget

Whilst working as a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical), your duties will include but will not be limited to -
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Installing and maintaining Commercial Electrical Lighting systems
- Installing new EV Charging points
- Installing and maintaining Fire Alarm systems
- Installing and maintaining commercial appliances like electric cookers
- Installation and alternations of electrical fixtures & fittings
- Undertake Electrical Inspections
- Electrical Health & Safety and Compliance.
- Work can also be in a variety of industries including schools, residential and commercial.
- Recognised qualification as an electrician.
- 3 - 5 years' experience gained working within facilities / repairs environment.
- Using computer systems.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate in English as well as comprehend written instructions. Previous work experience in a reactive repair environment would be beneficial. A driving licence is essential. Additionally, you must have the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship.
Please ensure you have the relevant experience of working as a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) / Electrician prior to applying. Desirable qualifications and experience include -
- Approved Electrical City and Guilds/CITB/NVQ qualification or equivalent.
- Experience in working as an Electrician / Mechanical Engineer (Electrical).
- Knowledge and skills to carry out electrical repairs and installations.
- Driving licence
- Call out experience.
