Summary
Job Overview
Oscar’s Bistro is Sheffield’s newest home of flavour, charm, and the occasional mild panic disguised as professionalism. We’re looking for Front of House staff who can juggle great service, good humour, and the kind of energy that makes people want to come back. You’ll be the face of Oscar’s – welcoming guests, keeping things flowing, and making sure every table leaves happy (and ideally, full).
Duties
Greet guests with genuine warmth – no forced smiles, just good old-fashioned friendliness.
Take orders confidently, handle queries with patience, and keep the floor running smoothly even when it’s busy enough to make your FitBit nervous.
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure service that’s fast, accurate, and occasionally miraculous.
Present food and drinks with care – we like things to look as good out front as they do in the kitchen.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and attention to detail – crumbs on tables are not part of the aesthetic.
Handle payments, reservations, and the odd awkward request with professionalism and humour.
Learn the menu inside out so you can recommend dishes with genuine enthusiasm (and maybe a personal favourite or two).
Qualifications
Experience in a café, bistro, or restaurant environment is ideal, but attitude and aptitude trump years of service.
Strong communication skills and a natural ability to connect with people – charm helps, sarcasm optional but appreciated.
A calm, adaptable worker who doesn’t crumble under pressure.
Keen eye for detail – whether it’s a crooked napkin or a forgotten latte.
Reliable, punctual, and genuinely proud to deliver great service.
Enthusiasm for good food, good coffee, and good company.
