Summary

A Vacancy at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.


We are seeking to recruit a part-time ophthalmic technician to work in our busy , friendly vitreo retinal out-patient and emergency unit for a fixed term period of one year .

Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician is desirable , however full training will be given to candidates who can display an ability to work efficiently, pro-actively and who can demonstrate excellent communication skills .

As part of the multi-disciplinary Team proving care to our patients , your role as an ophthalmic technician within our department includes assessment of visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurement , obtaining imaging relevant to the retina and instilling eye drops . The role involves working across the out-patient and emergency setting .

To plan and implement straightforward tasks and work guided by standard operating procedures and protocols including the initial assessment of patients in the both the vitreo retinal emergency unit and out-patient clinics- including but not exclusively :

Visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure reading using icare, R.A.P.D. assessment , installation of eye drops and obtaining imaging relevant to the retinal condition .
