Health Care Assistant (Bank Staff)
Company: Talbert Living Care Investments – Domiciliary Care Agency
Location: Nottingham (and surrounding areas)
Contract Type: Zero-hour / Bank Staff
Pay: Competitive hourly rates, with enhancements for weekends and bank holidays
About the Role
At Talbert Living Care Investments, our Flexi-Bank Health Care Assistants play a vital role in providing compassionate, high-quality care to our Service Users. As a bank carer, you will work on a flexible, ad-hoc basis to cover staff absences, respond to seasonal demands, or offer additional support when required.
Your work will help ensure that our Service Users continue to live safely, comfortably, and independently within their own homes or care settings.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Service Users with personal care, including washing, bathing, dressing, and toileting
Support with getting up in the morning, preparing for bed in the evening, and ensuring medication is taken as required
Help with household and domestic tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and shopping
Prepare and assist with meals, drinks, and snacks where necessary
Encourage and enable Service Users to follow agreed person-centred care plans
Put Service Users’ wellbeing at the heart of your work — going the extra mile to promote dignity, comfort, and independence
Maintain clear and accurate records and communicate any concerns or changes in wellbeing to managers or relevant professionals
What We Expect
Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred, but not essential — full training provided
A caring, patient, and respectful manner
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Right to work in the UK
A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to apply for one)
Desirable:
Training in Moving and Handling
Experience supporting individuals with dementia or additional needs
Awareness of safeguarding and recognising signs of deterioration
Benefits of a Zero-Hour (Bank) Contract
A bank contract is ideal if you need flexibility around other commitments such as study, childcare, or another role.
You will benefit from:
Flexible scheduling – choose when and where you work
The chance to gain hands-on experience in a variety of care environments
Competitive pay rates with enhancements for weekends and bank holidays
Weekly pay and supportive communication from our friendly management team
Considerations
While flexibility is a key advantage, zero-hour contracts do not guarantee fixed hours or income each week.
Work availability may vary depending on service demand
Income may fluctuate from week to week
Bank staff are entitled to statutory holiday pay and the National Minimum Wage, but may have limited access to other employee benefits
Working with Talbert Living Care
At Talbert Living Care Investments, we are proud to deliver person-centred, high-quality domiciliary care across Nottingham and surrounding areas. Our bank staff are an essential part of our team helping us ensure that every Service User receives continuity of care and compassionate support when it matters most.
A full, valid UK driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
Due to the nature of the role and the requirement to travel between client homes, all applicants must have access to their own reliable vehicle.
