About the Role
Foster Wales Cardiff, the in-house fostering service for Cardiff Council, is seeking experienced Independent Social Workers to join a pool of assessors for Form F and Connected Person’s (CPA) assessments. This is a flexible, freelance-style opportunity for qualified professionals who are passionate about supporting foster and kinship carers through their journey.
You’ll be responsible for assessing prospective carers, preparing detailed reports, and presenting your findings to panel. All assessments are conducted face-to-face, with visits to applicants’ homes required.
Key Responsibilities
Complete Coram BAAF Form F assessments or Connected Person’s Assessments
Visit applicants in person to gather information and build relationships
Prepare comprehensive assessment reports for panel presentation
Attend panel meetings (held on Wednesdays) to present your findings
Work independently while receiving supervision and regular check-ins
Ensure all work aligns with fostering standards and safeguarding protocols
✅ Essential Criteria
Registered with Social Care Wales (SCW)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in fostering or related social work
Proven experience completing Form F or CPA assessments
Live within 40 miles of Cardiff
Able to carry out face-to-face visits and attend panel in person
