An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven ELC Practitioner to join the Central Early Years Team. The role of ELC Practitioner for Early Years is to support the EY Team to develop innovative and creative approaches, and to support ELC settings across the authority, pre and post inspection.
The successful candidate will work as part of a forward-thinking team, bringing a sound knowledge of child development and EY Pedagogy.
The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Provide relevant and proportionate support to Council ELC settings and Private Partner Providers, including ELCs, Playgroups and Childminders
- Work alongside the Central EY Team Officers to develop rich, learning environments that support and challenge all learners
- Model appropriate interactions for ELC teams, taking cognisance of UNCRC and GIRFEC Wellbeing indicators
- Provide cover for all ELC settings, as and when required. This may result due to absences and/or to provide backfill to allow the central team members to work directly with practitioners.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
