Serco are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join our Engineering and Asset Management (EAM) Transformation and Programmes team tasked with the transformation of the EAM Business.
This role will specifically operate to service the newly consolidated Aviation, Space and Technology Portfolio within UK&E’s Defence Business Unit; This team will be headed up by the Director of Transformation and Programmes. The role will be required to work on multiple large / complex Projects & Programmes at any one time, the purposes of which are to drive Innovation and Growth, Organisational Realignment as well as Efficient and Effective delivery of the services the contract portfolio delivers for its internal and external customers.
Due to the dynamic, fast paced, and ever evolving nature of the contemporary business environment, the requirement to adapt and overcome is ever-present. Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA) necessitates a greater awareness, and readiness for the unexpected. Similarly, VUCA is a key feature of all temporary programme environments, and the purpose of this role is to lead the business through these challenging environments in a coherent and disciplined way by ensuring.
· The definition and management of complex interdependencies and risks (both tactical and strategic),
· The management and prioritisation of finite resource (both human and financial) are driven in the right place at the right time,
· Comprehensive gap analysis occurs between the current and future states of the organisation (aligned to the vision statements / blueprints determined within the programmes),
· Clear decisions are made (and timely escalations made where appropriate),
· Assurance is provided through the sustained focus on outcomes (and benefits) defined by the programme, manifested by robust governance and reporting across and to all stakeholders.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end leadership of transformation projects and programmes within the change portfolio. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to Programme Identification, Designing the Outcomes, Planning Progressive Delivery, Delivery of the Capabilities, Enabling the Outcomes, Evaluation of New Information, and the Closure of Programmes; In doing so, ensuring that these multiple interrelated projects and programmes progressively achieve outcomes of significant benefit and ultimately enabling enterprise agility on behalf of the Aviation, Space and Technology Capability Director.
Main Accountabilities:
- Lead the successful delivery of complex or large projects/programmes through effective stakeholder management, including successful management of the people change aspects of a project
- Deliver new business transitions in line with the bid solution, on time, to budget and to the highest quality
- Identify and scope complex project/ programme requirements and develop and manage project plans to ensure successful delivery
- Develop methodologies to monitor and track progress, and benefits against work stream objectives and the overall programme / project deliverables
- Provide appropriate reporting and tracking of issues to the relevant SRO (sponsor)/ Director of Transformation and Programmes and ensure effective implementation of any resulting action plans across the Division, publishing lessons learned and promoting the sharing of best practices
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Support the management of risk for the projects in alignment with the Divisional Risk approach
- Coaching and supporting more junior members of the special programmes team to help build experience and capability in project & programme management

What you’ll need to do the role
· Able to achieve BPSS clearance
· Flexible to travel to Serco contracts within the UK
· Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
· Previous Project / Programme Management certification and experience (e.g. APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) MSP, Prince etc.)
· Advanced MS Office Skills, including Project Online, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Demonstrable leadership and management skills.
· Demonstrable financial and commercial management skills.
· Excellent written, verbal and presentational communication skills
· Experience of involvement in planning and executing de/mobilisation and transitions following new business award / contract exit
· Experience of exceptional collaboration, influencing, communication and engagement of a wide range of internal stakeholders including senior executive leaders, as well as external stakeholders.
· Experience of working in a high-pressure environment and managing multiple demands at once.
· Excellent interpersonal skills. Working within a matrix organisation, you will be able to forge good working relationships quickly and collaborate as part of a varied team
· Ability to drive clarity from ambiguity.
