We are recruiting for a Senior Employee Communications Advisor to join our team in HR and Employee Communications. This role is responsible for developing and delivering employee communications content and products across several internal channels, in line with the communications and engagement strategy.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring colleagues receive useful and timely information to support them in their work and help them understand the role they play in delivering National Highways' objectives.

  • Reporting to the Employee Communication Channels Manager, the post holder - along with a team of Senior Employee Communication Advisors - will help manage the day-to-day development and delivery of our employee communication channels, such as editing and publishing our weekly colleague e-newsletter and supporting the delivery of leadership and colleague events. Providing specialist employee communication advice and support to the Employee Communication Business Partners to ensure communication is effective, measurable and targeted.
  • Event management from supporting regular leadership meetings to delivering our annual leadership conference.
  • Writing and designing clear and engaging content for a range of employee communication channels in line with our corporate tone of voice.
  • Supporting National Highways' projects through the development and delivery of communication campaigns.
  • Measure and evaluate employee communication channels to assess effectiveness, inform improvements, and demonstrate impact.
  • Working with others across the business to inform and deliver communications.

In this role regular travel to our Birmingham office at Snowhill, will be required along with attendance at other National Highways' locations in support of employee engagement events and activities.

About you

  • Demonstrable level of equivalent experience in an Internal/Employee Communications role along with a degree or professional qualification in journalism or communications would be desirable.
  • A strong background in internal/employee communication across diverse channels, both written and oral, coupled with excellent stakeholder management skills to engage with colleagues at all levels (experience in external and/or corporate communication will also be considered).
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and engaging content tailored to different internal audiences.
  • Proficient in digital internal comms tools and Office 365, with a good understanding of measuring channel effectiveness.
  • Experience in planning and delivering events for senior stakeholders and colleagues.  
  • The ability to take initiative to manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and organisation.
