Summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well-integrated team.
We are looking to recruit a Consultant Paediatrician who is highly experienced in caring for children undergoing Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), including those with Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI). This is a substantive post. Our Team in Newcastle provide a comprehensive service for children undergoing HSCT for IEI, housed in one of only two supra-regional centres in the UK, which have been designated for transplantation of children with primary immunodeficiencies and primary immune regulatory disorders. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the direct clinical care of patients admitted to our centre, before, during and after transplant, and manage long-term follow-up clinics of children discharged post-HSCT.
In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.
Please read attached Job Description and Person Specification
Following the retirement of a senior colleague, this substantive Consultant post has been configured to develop our clinical service so that it continues to meet and exceed the quality standards of JACIE (The Joint Accreditation Committee of the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT) and the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EHSCT). It offers an unparalleled opportunity to be part of a dynamic and innovative team with internationally recognised clinical and academic strengths.
Research is a strategic priority at The Great North Children’s Hospital (GNCH) and there is substantial scope to develop clinical studies within Paediatric HSCT, Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
To arrange an informal discussion with Dr Stephen Owens - Head of Department, Paediatric Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases and/or Prof Mary Slatter - Director of the Children’s HSCT Unit, or to obtain further information regarding this opportunity, please email Miss Gale Roberts - Departmental Secretary, email: gale.roberts@nhs.net
