Role – Senior Learning & Development Officer (Children's Services - Families for Children)
Location – GCHSCP, Ladywell Business Centre, 94 Duke Street, Glasgow, G4 0UW

Families for Children is the adoption and fostering service for Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP). Good carers and adopters are at the very heart at what we do and supporting their development is a crucial element of the support provided to them.

The Senior Learning and Development Officer (SLDO) will design and deliver bespoke training and development inputs to foster carers, adopters and staff from across Children’s services in line with The Promise, service priorities, statutory and organisational requirements. The post holder will utilise existing training and development resources to plan and deliver training and development activities.
The post holder will be committed to nurture and trauma informed practices to best meet the needs of our children, young people, and their care giver families. Working with people with lived experience to ensure their views and aspirations are reflected in service development and learning interventions is also a key part of the role.
The post holder will facilitate a range of staff learning and development opportunities, support the development of the services capacity to facilitate practice learning sessions, support the development of supervision/coaching or reflective practice sessions to enhance the capacity of the staff to support care giver families to deliver nurture and trauma informed care.
The post holder will contribute to the creation and delivery of online learning and development courses, support the facilitation of carer support groups and contribute to local, national and service wide practice development forums. Some elements of flexible delivery will be required to meet the full needs of foster and adoptive families.
Applicants must evidence: sound articulation skills, influencing and networking skills, an ability to involve people with experience in the design of learning interventions and organisational and administrative skills.
Applicants must be qualified to SCQF Level 9 with a relevant qualification in Social Care, Learning and Development, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or Education.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
