Crynodeb
To provide high-quality, evidence-based mental health nursing care to patients within a prison environment. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for a defined caseload, working autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The role requires a resilient, non-judgmental, and proactive professional capable of delivering compassionate care in a complex and secure setting. 2. Main Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Practice: Conduct comprehensive, person-centred mental health assessments, including risk assessments. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with patients and the MDT. Provide a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention, brief solution-focused therapy, and psycho-education. Safely administer and manage medication, in accordance with NMC guidelines and local policies. Monitor and report on patient progress, maintaining accurate and timely electronic health records. Triage mental health needs and respond effectively to emergencies. Professional Responsibilities: Maintain professional registration with the NMC and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct. Act as a named nurse for a defined caseload, ensuring continuity of care. Participate in clinical supervision, reflective practice, and mandatory training. Contribute to the MDT, sharing information and expertise to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Work collaboratively with prison staff, external healthcare providers, and other agencies. Safety and Security: Maintain a safe therapeutic environment while adhering to all prison security protocols. Understand and work within the constraints of a Category A prison setting. Escalate security or clinical concerns promptly to the appropriate manager.
