About the Role
As part of the team, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering high-quality care to inpatients on the wards.
2. Conducting pre-operative assessments for patients.
3. Assisting in theatre for both trauma and elective orthopaedic cases.
4. Participating in on-call duties at Peterborough City Hospital alongside the resident On-Call SPR and under the guidance of the On-Call Consultant.
This role provides a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop surgical and clinical skills acrosselective orthopaedics and trauma. With Peterborough as the designated hot Trauma site and Hinchingbrooke serving as the main elective Orthopaedic site, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of cases in an evolving, collaborative environment.
You will join a team of 10 Junior Doctors and a team of Nurse Practitioners based at PCH who support the doctors with Trauma and sub-specialty elective work.
During the on-call shifts at PCH, you will work alongside the resident On Call SPR, both day and overnight and you will also be supported by the On Call Consultant who is resident during the daytime and non resident overnight.
The Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors undertake elective lists and outpatient sessions each week while the FY2 or ST Doctors are expected to clerk the patients for those lists. Ward rounds are included in the weekly schedule. Your role will fit into going on ward rounds and supporting consultants.

As an FY2 doctor you will be expected to provide support to consultant and middle grade colleagues - helping to support in theatres and the wards as well as providing on call cover at PCH.
There are regular monthly medical audit meetings. You will ensure that all data collection and processing undertaken is consistently accurate and timely and complies with the Trust Data Quality Policy and local procedures.
