Summary
Perfect Household Staff are pleased to present a new opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated part-time housekeeper/cook to support a lovely family of three residing in West Hill, Ottery St Mary, Devon. The household comprises two parents and a young child living in a four-bedroom, two-storey home. The family have recently moved into the property and are seeking a trustworthy, proactive, and dependable individual who can take initiative and maintain a well-organised and pleasant home environment.
The household also includes two friendly cats, so the candidate must be pet-friendly and happy to assist with light pet care such as ensuring their food and water bowls are replenished.
West Hill is a charming village located near Ottery St Mary, surrounded by the natural beauty of East Devon’s countryside, offering a peaceful and family-friendly setting. The location is easily accessible by public transport, making it a convenient live-out position for candidates residing locally or within reasonable commuting distance.
The family also receive a small amount of additional support from a regular cleaner who visits once a week for a few hours. This arrangement provides a little extra help with general upkeep, allowing the successful candidate to focus on maintaining the household to a consistently high standard and preparing simple, healthy meals for the family. One of the principals does not eat meat, and the household avoids spicy or heavily seasoned dishes, so experience preparing light, balanced, and nutritious meals will be ideal.
The home features wooden flooring throughout, including mahogany and walnut finishes, therefore knowledge of appropriate care and maintenance of delicate surfaces will be important.
The successful candidate will also be comfortable liaising with contractors and assisting with errands, as the family are still in the process of completing redecorations.

Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook:
General housekeeping including cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, and maintaining all living areas
Care and maintenance of wooden floors (mahogany, walnut) and other delicate surfaces
Family-style cooking, preparing healthy, simple meals for two adults and a child
Light grocery and household shopping, including managing online orders
Liaising with household contractors and tradesmen as required
Laundry, ironing, and organisation of household linens
Light pet care for two cats (feeding, refilling water bowls)
Ensuring the home is kept tidy and well-presented at all times
Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook job:
5 years of private Housekeeper/Cook experience
2 excellent and checkable references
Conversational level of English
UK working permit
