Job Title: Personal Assistant – Complex Care (Female, Non-Smoker)
Location: Buckinghamshire (Private Household)
Hours: Part-time / Full-time/ Day shifts/ Waking Night Shifts / 1-hour Calls
⸻
About Me
I am a medically qualified professional living with a complex physical disability. I am seeking experienced, compassionate Personal Assistants to join my small team to help me live with dignity, independence, and purpose.
This is not a typical care role — I am active, curious, and creative, and I value assistants who bring warmth, skill, and common sense. Privacy, calm communication, and respectful collaboration are essential.
I am looking for friendly, enthusiastic, dynamic assistants who are positive about disability, have a “can do” attitude, are able to use initiative, are willing to learn from my experience, respect my choices, and support me to live a full life.
⸻
The Role
You will support both clinical and lifestyle needs, including:
• Personal care and bowel management
• Supporting the safe use of NIV / cough assist
• Safe repositioning, transfers, walking, and physiotherapy exercises
• Assisting with meals, hydration, and medication
• Supporting use and maintenance of equipment, including my wheelchair
• Assisting with hobbies and interests (baking, gardening — interest required, skill not necessary)
• Supporting daily routines, household activities, and occasional outings
• Working as part of a small, close-knit care team
• Remaining awake, alert, and active during waking night shifts
⸻
You Should Have
• Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths
• Preferably Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2+ in Health & Social Care (training can be provided)
• Experience in complex care, including bowel management
• Confidence with manual handling and safe transfers
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn NIV / cough assist / NIPPY use
• Strong spoken and written English
• Understanding of disability rights, consent, and autonomy
• Calm, reliable, and emotionally intelligent presence
• Female, non-smoker (occupational requirement due to nature of support and health needs)
• Full UK driving license (21+) to drive a Motability / WAV vehicle
• DBS check and references required
Bonus:
• Experience driving a mobility-adapted vehicle
• Flexible with shift patterns
• A sense of humour and good emotional instincts
⸻
Salary
• Day shifts: £13.40 per hour
• Waking night shifts: £18 per hour for the first 9 hours; remaining hours at the day rate
• Weekends: £18 per hour
• Holiday pay included as per statutory entitlement
⸻
What I Offer
• Ongoing training and support
• Supportive, respectful working environment
• 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata)
• Flexible working hours
• Long-term continuity for the right candidate
